A Dangerous Personality
by Sallie Bingham
presented by The Perry Street Theatre Company
directed by Martin Platt
with Nancy Anderson, Lisa Bostnar, Steve Brady, Sheffield Chastain, Graeme McDonald and Jody Lynn McClintock
at The Julia Miles Theatre, NYC
This was the second play we produced by Sallie Bingham (as well as Martin Platt’s second Bingham play that he would direct for The Perry Street Theatre Company). We had lost the theatre at 31 Perry Street at this point (this was in 2008) so we rented the Julia Miles. Named after the founder of the Women’s Project, it is a 249 seater that had once been the former home of the Negro Ensemble Company where A Soldier’s Story premiered starring Adolph Caesar, Denzel Washington and Samuel L. Jackson. This was also the same theatre that when I was with Revelation, we would produce the play, Temporary Help.
We reunited with Martin’s usual design team: Bill Clarke (Set), Martha Hally (Costumes), Lindsay Jones (Sound) and brought on Tom Sturge to do the Lighting. I would work with Bill again a few years later at the Olney Theatre when he would design both Set and Costume for me when I directed The Submission.
