Inherit The Wind

Inherit The Wind
by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee
directed by John Tillinger / assisted by David Elliott
produced by the National Actors Theatre (Tony Randall, Founder and Artistic Director)
starring George C. Scott and Charles Durning

at the Royale Theatre, NYC

Revived for the first time since the original premiered in 1955, Tillinger’s production received two Tony nominations, one for best revival of a play and the second for the portrayal of Drummond by the brilliant George C. Scott.

This was my second time assisting John Tillinger, and my return to Broadway after working on Indiscretions. Having the very real privilege to watch George C. Scott and Charles Durning craft their roles each day in rehearsal was something to behold, indeed.

The New York Timew was equally enamored with the play:

“At long last Tony Randall's National Actors Theater has a production that deserves to be a hit. It's John Tillinger's crisp, handsome, very entertaining revival of Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee's "Inherit the Wind," which opened last night at the Royale Theater with George C. Scott and Charles Durning in the seductively actable leading roles.” - Vincent Canby, The New York Times
